13th Week of Pregnancy
The challenging journey of motherhood has been passed and now the 13th month has started which is the important one. The 3rd trimester ends in this week and chances of miscarriage decreases by the end of this week and the baby grows and also the body parts and all the other organs of the baby. The growth of fetal is to be checked in this week and it also needs attention medically.

Fetal Development in Week 13
- Internal Organ Development
The intestines at this stage starts to settle down and take their place in the abdomen of the baby and also construct the vocal cord in the meanwhile and then produce pancreas and insulin from it and the major organs then start working in this system. The liver also secretes bile and forms the kidneys to urine and carry the waste that it has and all the waste materials. The urine passes in the form of amniotic fluid and surrounds the baby.
The ovaries and testes grow and the sex of the baby depends on it. The fetus of a female has two million eggs in the ovaries and they go for about 1 million time at the birth time.
- Bone & Muscle Development
The muscle and bone develops when the tissues grow in the legs and arms of small size and sucks the muscles that starts to develop within the cheeks. The baby of yours starts practicing its reflexes and then need it later during the nursing.
- Limb Development
The baby starts to grow at this stage and also the fingerprints of unique size grow at his fingertips. As he starts moving tiny legs and arms, the baby become able to put the thumb of his own into the mouth at the end of this week and the thumbs start to develop in this week and the development becomes fast.
- External Appearance
The baby seems like a tiny human with body and head which slowly comes into proportions. The head occupies only one third of the complete body and there come no fat in the body and it looks pinkish and thin. There is a week of the external genital organs which develops at start.

- Consider yourself to join childbirth and yoga and education classes as well.
- Avoid yourself from moving suddenly like sitting at a place or standing up just by a click.
- Keep your diet healthy and balanced and try not to gain too much weight on you which may become difficult to reduce. Do not take to many meals but take meals in different intervals.
- Continue on taking prenatal vitamins and sleep on your side because sleeping on the stomach would not be a good option for you.
